We Attended a WSET Masterclass, and it Gave Us Pin Envy

The Romans would say, “in vino veritas,” referring to how wine would loosen even the tightest of lips, revealing an individual’s hidden thoughts and desires. But it’s no secret we have WSET pin envy. Here’s how to get yours.

From common table wine in social gatherings to an elusive vintage in auctions, wine is as vast an art as the terrain it’s grown on. While some individuals would be content with simply drinking the fermented fruit, others seek a more meticulous approach, using honed palates to fully experience the complexities it has to offer.

Wanting to elevate wine knowledge and expertise in the Philippines, Enderun Colleges has been providing both levels one and two of the WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust) program since 2014, empowering wine enthusiasts and hospitality professionals alike.

Bel S. Castro, Assistant Dean of Hospitality Management states, “As consumer sophistication continues to rise, this exerts pressure on professionals to keep pace. Embarking on certification signals to the industry that one is serious.”

Where wine enthusiasts and professionals in the past have had to leave the country in order to get their WSET certification, Enderun continues to ease the burden by expanding their program to include WSET Level 3, allowing for a deeper learning experience, all within the comforts of the metro.

Guest lecturer and award-winning wine specialist Jorge Orte Tudela, DipWSET will be teaching the Level 3 class from March 19 to 23. Tudela states that “WSET Level 3 Award in Wines was a pivotal point in my life, turning me into a real wine professional after my many years as a wine lover and enthusiast.” Tudela is also a certified Sherry and Cava educator, accredited by Consejo Regulador Jeres-Xerxes-Sherry and Institut del Cava respectively.

Online registration for the WSET Level 3 course starts on March 7. Individuals who successfully complete the course will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin, along with the privilege of using the associated WSET-certified logo.

Thirstier minds may also register for Mr. Tudela’s Sherry Masterclass on March 24, from 10 a.m. to 12 nn, as well as his Cava Masterclass from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.. Both classes will be held in the same calibre as the WSET classes, and will have limited seating.

Beginner wine enthusiasts and budding hospitality professionals may also take the WSET levels 1 and 2 classes through the Enderun Extension program.
