Enter the KFC bucket hat, a stylish piece that could double as a handy chicken holder.
KFC in Russia tapped St. Petersburg-based street-wear designer Mam Cupy to come up with its design.
In their campaign video, a voice-over asks “Is it a hat?” and “Or a bucket?” over scenes of youngsters wearing the hat, before settling on a third option of “why not both?”
The limited-edition accessory mirrors the brand’s traditional colors and features a logo of Colonel Sanders embroidered upside-down at the front, resembling that of chicken buckets when the hat is flipped. Other details include bold “Mam Cupy” branding at the back along with eyelets at the sides.
In a statement KFC said: “Originally an 80s trend piece, the bucket hat made a comeback in the 90s and having made the product life cycle once more, it has revived as this year’s essential street-wear summer accessory. The design repeats the look of the KFC iconic bucket, with its red and white stripes, complemented with KFC and Mam Cupy logos.”
This is not the first time the brand has delved into the fashion world.
In 2017, KFC in USA released its own clothing line, which included a mustard yellow sweatshirt, socks with a drumstick pattern, and a pillowcase featuring its famous tagline “it’s finger lickin’ good.”
