Everyday Americans consume 400 million cups of coffee, adding up to over 146 billion cups annually. While most consumers think that these cups are just recycled, even if they are, they eventually still end up in a landfill.
A creative company based in California saw this issue and addressed it by coming up with coffee cups that can turn into trees. People can now plant their cups to help the environment, thanks to the wonder invention of Reduce. Reuse. Grow. Inc.
The cup is currently part of a Kicktarter campaign, and will be utilized by participating stores in the US. These stores will encourage people to plant the cups or have them returned to the company for planting.
Its designer, CEO and Founder of Reduce. Reuse. Grow. Inc., Alex Henige explained to Bored Panda, “The liner as well as the paper absorbs a lot of heat allowing the seeds to not be affected directly.”
He added, “This is a product I stand behind fully and I look forward to seeing where and how it develops within the next couple months!”
