This month, one of Taiwan’s best fruit tea brands is launching two new products to add to their popular brown sugar pearl line-up here in the country. The Brown Sugar Pearl Matcha Latte, that contains the store’s bestselling brown sugar pearls, topped with milk and premium Japanese matcha; and the Brown Sugar Pearl Cocoa Latte with brown sugar pearls, topped with milk and a smooth chocolate mix.
As the first store to introduce the Brown Sugar Pearl to the Filipino market, and a brand that takes pride in the quality of their products, we were psyched to try these specialty beverages.
We first tried the Brown Sugar Pearl Cocoa Latte, and compared to other brands in the local market today—which has those clear-cut powdered chocolate flavorings— we dare say its cocoa flavor is the most authentic we’ve had. The cocoa’s bitterness is complemented well by the sweet and slow-cooked brown sugar pearls.
Meanwhile, most of the people in our office preferred the Brown Sugar Pearl Matcha Latte. Like the former, the main component of the beverage tastes very genuine, due to the fact that Yi Fang only uses all-natural ingredients. Matcha has an intense bitter flavor, and this did a great job in bringing out the full flavor of the brown sugar pearls even more. The sweet and bitter play well together, without one overpowering the other.
Generally, the drinks did not disappoint. Both taste authentic, and highlighted the strength of the brand which is the pearls. The Brown Sugar Pearl Series sells at P160 for Medium, and P180 for Large, a fair price point for its quality. Both drinks are also available in hot versions, perfect for the coming rainy season.
The Brown Sugar Pearl Cocoa Latte and Brown Sugar Pearl Matcha Latte will be available in all Yi Fang branches, namely TriNoma, M. Paterno San Juan, Bonifacio High Street, Bonifacio Stopover, SM Mall of Asia, Ayala Malls the 30th, and Tomas Morato.
