Ingeniously called Float, the cup was invented by Taiwanese industrial designers Fang Shih and Mickey Wu, to address the evolving tea culture.
Contrary to traditional milk tea cups where the pearls are at the bottom, the Float creates an illusion of floating tapioca pearls when full. This is thanks to its bisphenol A-free Tritan inner cup.
It has two openings, one for drinking with boba or any add on, and the other, without.
The designers shared that by placing ice cubes in the middle of the cup, the drink’s temperature and concentration would be balanced. “Let ingredients flow to the mouth with the tea cooled by ice at the same time in every sip of drink,” they said.
The cup does not only eliminate the need for straws, but also saves the environment as it is made with recycled glass from Spring Pool Glass. The creators stated, “We use recycled glass to create a bubble tea cup without straw, making the bubble tea container no longer difficult to wash, making environmental protection a daily lifestyle.”
