Whiskey. You either like it or you love it. And If you’re not drinking straight or on the rocks, order the highball.
For the unfamiliar, highball is a name for a family of mixed alcoholic drinks composed of a booze base spirit and a larger proportion of a non-alcoholic mixer. The simple concoction of soda water and whiskey is popular in Japan, since the Japanese prefer beverages with a subtler taste at a lower proof. It’s a great drink to pair with food.
If you’re curious as to what a highball tastes like, one of the top brands of bourbon (whiskey distilled from grain mash that’s at least 51% corn) in the world, Jim Beam, came up with a tall cocktail blend of its own. The Jim Beam Highball, which the company claims to be a refreshing, super-carbonated, ice-cold beverage that has the perfect ratio of award-winning bourbon to special high-pressured soda. It has a sweet flavor, with a sharp and clean zing of citrus. The concoction comes directly from their draft machines from Japan so you know it’s authentic AF.
Rayern Goh, Senior Brand Manager of Beam Suntory, said, “Jim Beam is a very iconic drink in America, and we are presenting you a new way of drinking the Jim Beam. It’s [Jim Beam Highball] a very simple drink, just whiskey and soda.”
Sally Lim, Senior Marketing Manager for Southeast Asia, Beam Suntory, also shared, “Jim Beam Highball is the ultimate drink for our tropical climate. It is refreshing, well-balanced, and pairs superbly with all kinds of food.”
“We have pioneered the perfect highball served with our original highball draft machines in Japan, and we are glad to share these drinks in a fun environment with great food and ‘live’ music!” She adds.
Here are the mixes available for the summer season:
These drinks will be available in Jim Beam’s pop-up bar at the fountain area in front of Coconut Club in Bonifacio High Street Amphitheater from April 24 to 28.
The event will include a colorful DIY area for the public to make their own highballs, with brand ambassadors ready to help anytime. Guests will also be able to take home their highball glass when they post a video of their DIY highball experience.
If the booze is not convincing enough to visit the pop-up bar, there will also be music and live performances from sought after OPM bands like Autotelic.
The fun starts at 6PM and goes all the way till 12 midnight, with extended hours to 2AM on Friday and Saturday.
