Shake Shack Finally Shakes Up Manila on May 10

Shake Shack Philippines officially opens this May 10, at the Central Square, corner of C1 Park and 5th Avenue.

Last July, news of Shake Shack coming to the Philippines, circulated on social media. SSI Group, Inc. partnered with New York’s critically-acclaimed, modern day “roadside” burger stand, to bring the brand in by the first quarter of 2019.

There will be exclusive food items featuring local flavors, like the Calamansi Limeade, their local version of the lemonade; Ube Shake, vanilla frozen custard ice cream with purple yam; and Uuuube-by Baby, a marvelous concoction of vanilla custard with ube, coconut marshmallow, ube cookie, toasted coconut, crispy pinipig and leche flan.

The brand is also highlighting local suppliers in their menu. Bucky’s and Auro chocolate are used in the Shark Attack, while Wildflour created the Calamansi Pie Oh My which is a vanilla custard with the bakery’s signature calamansi pie.

Of course, the menu will also have Shake Shack’s signature items including the ShackBurger®, Shack-cago DogTM, classic crinkle-cut fries, craft beer from local Engkanto Brewery and Monkey Eagle, Shack Red and White wine, and frozen custard ice cream.

Shake Shack culinary director, Mark Rosati, shared, “As we spent time exploring the unique and eclectic landscape that is Filipino cuisine, we were inspired by the flavors and artisans we met along the way and by the food that they’re passionate about.”

“From halo halo, lechon, adobo and garlic rice to calamansi and ube in every imaginable form, Manila is serious about its love for great food and ingredients!  We’re thrilled to introduce our Manila-exclusive menu that features just a few of the flavors and ingredients we fell in love with, and are humbled to become part of this vibrant community,” he added.

SSI Group president, Anton Huang, said, “We’re proud to finally unveil our Manila menu that was created with high standards of excellence: thoughtful ingredient sourcing and preparation, hospitality and quality that will provide a value that is accessible for our Filipino customers.”

The construction kicked off with two murals by street artist Jappy Agoncillo. While under construction, a larger-than-life installation of the ShackBurger bag made an appearance in various locations around the BGC neighborhood.

We’re excited to finally sink our teeth into the 100% all-natural Angus beef burgers and chicken sandwiches, griddled flat-top dogs, fresh-made frozen custard, crispy crinkle-cut fries, craft beer, wine and more. Here’s hoping there’s a secret menu, too!
