Starbucks to Block Porn From Its WiFi

Beginning next year, Starbucks coffee will be blocking access to pornographic sites from their free WiFi.

This action was made to support the cause of non-profit organization, Enough Is Enough. They believe in making the Internet safer for families and children.

In 2016, the NGO urged McDonald’s to filter online adult content and prohibit access. The coffee chain agreed to follow suit, but up to this point failed to do so. This pushed the NGO to have 26,000 people sign a petition to ban porn on Starbucks’ WiFi.

CEO of Enough Is Enough, Donna Rice Hughes, explained, “By breaking its commitment, Starbucks is keeping the doors wide open for convicted sex offenders and others to fly under the radar from law enforcement and use free, public WiFi services to access illegal child porn and hard-core pornography.”

The American coffeehouse will now be fulfilling its promise to remove pornographic content, starting with their US-based stores this 2019.

Porn site, YouPorn, retaliates to the future ban by prohibiting their employees to bring Starbucks in their office.
